AreaFest
AYSO Area 6D Soccer Games
Sunday, June 2, 2013

AreaFest is a fun filled round robin recreational day of soccer, presenting local teams the chance to compete against other teams from around the area.  Teams will play a minimum of 3 games.

ALL Boys and Girls teams in U10 (4th grade), U12, U14 and U19 play in AreaFest. This Sunday tournament replaces the regular Sat/Sun game schedule for these divisions that weekend.  U5 and Kindergarten through 3rd gr play their regular game schedule.  U9 and below games are played as normally scheduled.

All teams from the participating regions are expected to play. Teams play together as regularly rostered. Play is recreational, no standings are kept. Teams play short-sided 5v5 (U10) or 7v7 (U12 and up), 25 minute games officiated by volunteer Referees from all over the area. Set up usually starts at 9:30/10 AM games run from 12 Noon to 6 PM. Volunteers are needed for Set-Up/Take Down, if you can help email: registrar@glenviewayso.org

Multiple local regions including Glenview, Skokie, Morton Grove, Highland Park, Deerfield, Peterson Park participate. Several venues are involved:

  • Glenview (with the largest available space) hosts U10 at Attea
  • Highland Park and Deerfield host U12 games
  • Skokie hosts U14 and U19 games

AreaFest activities

  • We need 3-4 Volunteers to help with Goal Setup and another 3-4 volunteers to help with Take Down at the end of the day.
  • We need a tag team of volunteers to man the check-in table starting at 11 AM - 6 PM
  • Check-in is simple:  when complete team there, ask teams to check off their games on schedule
  • Facilitate ad-hoc games for teams with opponents that don't show up. Instruct coaches if they have no opponent, come to the check-in table immediately. Volunteer should introduce coaches, ask them if they want a game. We're there to PLAY!
  • Sound air horn to start/end games
