It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of one of our own, Nick Black. Nick was not just a volunteer referee; he was a pillar of our community, dedicating over 25 years to the boys' and girls' soccer programs for Glenview AYSO and spending many weekends at Flick and Attea fields.
Nick's passion for the game was matched only by his commitment to serving our community. He was more than a referee; he was a mentor, a coach, and a friend to countless players over the years. His presence on the field was synonymous with guidance, instruction, and encouragement, making a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
In honor of Nick's memory, we will be initiating a special tribute at our U12 matches Sunday. All games will begin with a moment of silence, followed by players taking a knee in remembrance of his dedication and legacy. We encourage other matches to observe this tribute as well, as we collectively pay homage to a true legend of Glenview AYSO.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Nick's family and friends during this difficult time. His absence leaves a void in our hearts and in our organization, but his spirit will forever live on in the memories and the camaraderie he shared with us all.
